New Live Seminar – How to Build a Professional Website Using WordPress and Thesis
For the new year we are teaching a live 4 week seminar on building a professional Website using WordPress and Thesis. In this video series you’ll learn how to create and design your Home page. When you create a Home Page there are many elements to consider. The lesson starts off with a discussion about website layout and design using the Thesis theme as well as concepts that are typical of all themes. We’ll explore how to configure the content columns and sidebars as well as the Navigation system. Then we’ll move on to a tour of the WordPress dashboard. The dashboard is the command and control center of your website. We’ll also cover which elements in the dashboard are more useful for a business website rather than a blog.
Once we have an understanding of the dashboard we’ll move on to creating a new static page. Before we get too far down the road creating content we have an introduction to search engine optimization. SEO is essentially the process of making your website easily accessible and understandable by Google and other search engines. Thesis has special built in SEO features that will help with this process.
Finally, you’ll create a home page, we’ll work with the special SEO for functions in Thesis and work on the navigation menu.
