Hi,

I have tried installing this plugin twice with two different results.

Once I installed manually into the plugin directory on my server (how I do other plugins) and the plugin just wasn't picked up by Wordpress at all so I couldn't activate it.

The second time I installed it automatically within the wordpress dashboard. This method made it so that i could not access my Wordpress dashboard anymore (it just froze on a white screen). To get back into my account, I deleted the files from the server and logged back in. This is the first BYOB plugin I've tried, so if there's anything different I need to do please let me know. Also, are there any common plugins you are aware of that clash with this plugin?

Thanks

Steven, I've used both of those methods to install this plugin without seeing the problem you are reporting.  Perhaps something got corrupted when you downloaded the plugin originally.

I'd try downloading a clean copy and use the WordPress upload/install system.

If it doesn't work after getting a new copy of the plugin let me know.

I don't know of any plugin conflicts.  I haven't discovered any – although there may be conflicts with some Thesis skins out there.  Since there isn't a uniform method of creating and installing skins different folks do it different ways.  I have seen some problems like that.

Thanks for the tips Rick,

Unfortunately, I have downloaded a clean copy of the plugin and tried to install it again using the Wordpress upload/install system with the same result. Whether I "activate" the plugin after install or just try to "return to the plugins page" all I get is a white screen. I am effectively locked out of Wordpress it seems, until I remove the plugin from the server ( at Bluehost).

I'm not sure what to do, but I could really use the extra functionality of that plugin. I'm still setting up the site and now I am starting to think about who sees what on the site and the messages that display.

Thanks for your help. I'm not sure what to do next…

It looks to me like the latest version I have it working on is 6.8.0.  I'll do some testing on the later version tomorrow.  It could be that I'll need to make some changes so that it is compatible with WP eStore.

Wow, that's awesome! I hope that you get it working again (assuming the plugin is the problem).

Also, just so you know, I am not using any Thesis skins (just to rule that possibility out). I'm setting it all up myself, straight out of the box.

Look forward to hearing how you get on.

Thanks

Hi Rick,

Just wondering if you got a chance to test the BYOB eMember shortcodes plugin?

Yes, in fact just a moment ago I finished updating it to version 1.3.  I'll get it uploaded to the site later this afternoon.

OK, the plugin is updated and is currently working on WP eMember 7.4.2.  I've added to the plugin page and if you are using version 1.2 it should automatically notify you that there is an update for it tomorrow.
