Hi,  I was watching the video

http://www.byobwebsite.com/04/…..ent-pages/ - and saw where title="Go to My Home Page" was used to pop up a name when the image was hovered over by the cursor.

I tried to use this in http://www.global-healthclinic.com to generate the same thing when the cursor hovered over the image on the right side of the header – but was unable to make it work.

The current custom_functions.php for the site is

function my_first_wp_menu() {
?>
<div class="my-menu-class">

<?php wp_nav_menu( array('menu' => '5&')); ?>

</div>
<?php

Duncan the code you are using there has absolutely nothing to do with the tool tip that shows up when hovering over an image.  In fact it's not even remotely related to the subject.  So, maybe I don't understand what you are asking for.

However, if you want to have a tool tip display when someone hovers over an image you need to give the image a "title".  The tooltip is created from the image title.  So the image tag might look something like this:

<img src="http://www.global-healthclinic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Marilee-GHC1001.jpg" title="some tool tip text" />

However, background images don't have a "title" property so you can't set that for the image in this context.

The easiest way to do this is to use my BYOB Thesis Simple Header Widgets plugin.

  1. Create 2 widget areas
  2. Make the left header area 680 pixels wide
  3. Retain the default Thesis header behavior in the left header area
  4. Add the image to the right header area using a text widget
  5. Delete all of your custom code related to the header.

 This is by far the easiest solution.  Once you become truly comfortable with the code then you can replace the plugin with your own code.

Thanks Rick,

2 questions:  How do I edit the text in the right header widget — looks like I should have copied html code in the right widget text box.  And second – I want to use your widget in the left side as well — can I copy the existing header text – or best just to start from scratch.

p.s. the code which I included in my first post was simply the code used to date.

Thanks Rick

Re: the above – I want to use your widget on the left side as well — can I copy the existing header text – or is it best just to start from scratch.  I'd like to keep the existing nav buttons.

Also – the nav buttons on the top – don't know how to close the gap between "store" and "subscribe.  www.global-healthclinic.com

I'm not sure why you have custom CSS for your menu.  Everything you are doing with your menu you can do using Design Options.  However, in order to make the entire menu have that background color you need to add something like this to custom.css

.custom ul.menu
{
 background-color: #D2FFFF;
}
