If/when I insert a video in my MultiMedia Box, will it make it into the video sitemap, and therefore help my site rank better through Google?

If you include it in your sitemap.  Otherwise it won't.  The placement of the video isn't the issue.  It's the creation of the video sitemap that matters.

If my old memory serves me, I believe I embedded the YouTube code (URL?) the last time (6 months ago?) I placed a video in the Thesis MM Box.

Is there a way of placing a video in the MM box any other way … and if so, how?

You can place any hosted video code (YouTube, Vimeo etc) in the multimedia box.  However, you can't place self hosted videos there.  If you are using a plugin like FV WordPress flowplayer you can easily add a video to the sidebar using a text widget.

What was the source of the video that you wanted to add?

Sorry for the delay in replying.  :)

I shot my own video and put in it the Mufti-Meida Box on my site, http;//www.YourAntiAgingTips.com. (Hyperlink in sig line, below)

Since I'm not very 'technical', I decided to use a WP Plug-in that automatically creates a video sitemap and updates it with each video posted.  The creator of the plug-in wasn't sure if it would be able to pick up a video in the Thesis MM Box and put it in the video sitemap, so he suggested putting the video in the post itself.

So I guess I'm "self-hosting it with the FV WP Flowplayer plug-in .. .using this "command" (?) …                                          

Hmmmm. For some reason the command isn't displaying in the post, but when I go back into it via 'Edit', it's displaying!? I'll try it without the leading '[' and trailing ']' brackets …

Unfortunately, the video sitemap plug-in's parameters are a little confusing to me, so I'm waiting on their Tech Support rep to get back to me.

I'm not sure there is a question here I can help with.

Although my guess is that the plugin you are using will not be able to detect the video in the multimedia box.  It sounds like it can only detect videos that are embedded in the content.

Well … I was replying to the question you asked in your earlier reply: What is the source of the video?  (I shot it myself – and I have been hosting it myself via the FlowPlayer WP plug-in).

Here's a straight forward question for you … smile …

Where can I find the video sitemap template you developed?  And are there any instructions or guidelines for using it, especially for adding subsequent videos?

Richard, if you use the search function here on the site (look at the top of your screen – you'll see the Search BYOB Website in big orange letters – and search for "Video Sitemap" the first 3 entries are for a series I taught on creating the video sitemap.
