Then step 2 is to create a seller account and this seller account that you’re going to create is going to be the pre-configured account. You’re going to use this seller account in the Shopp settings as if it was your real account that you are going to be receiving money in.
Create a Pre-Configured Account
So we’re going to create a pre-configured account for the seller and the critical thing is to make sure you understand that everything here should be fictitious. It should all be fictitious.
So I’m just going to call the seller, RickPayPal Test. Okay so first name and last name. The login email would be rick1234… again, this should be a fake email address. firstname.lastname@example.org is actually a real email address so I’m just creating a fake one here. You want to make sure you’re going to remember this password. And then you need to add a credit card and a bank account. You don’t need to add any balance here, just say ‘Create an Account”.
Now we have our business account set up. And at this point, what we need to do is set up the PDT Identity Token and set up our website payment preferences and that kind of thing before we move on any further.
Set Up Website Payment Preferences
So we’re going to go ahead and enter the sandbox test site as the seller. And this is where that password comes into play. This PayPal account is going to look just like a real PayPal account except it says ‘sandbox’ up here at the top.
Here we have our ‘Welcome, RickPayPal Test’. We’re going to come over to the profile and just select it, actually and come down here to Website Payment Preferences because this is where we set that up.
And we want to do an auto return. Once somebody has paid on PayPal, we want them automatically returned to the site and we want them returned to our Thank You page. So we need to get our Thank You page and put that URL here. They’re going to get that Thank You page actually from Shopp. In Shopp 1.2 under Setup, you scroll down here to Pages. You can see the pages that Shopp creates and it’s this Thank You page that we want to get access to.
The critical part of this to understand is that the slug for this Thank You page is going to be Shopp, right now, /thanks because this is the parent page of all of these pages. So each one of these pages is shopp/account, shopp/cart, shopp/checkout. And if you change this from shopp/catalog, the page would be the name of the parent page and the name of the the child page.
So what we want to do here is grab our URL, thesisshopp.com/shopp/thanks, and that is the return URL. That is the URL of my shopping page. Now we have the correct URL for our shopping page or our return URL.
Payment Data Transfer
Then we come down here to Payment Data Transfer and we have to turn that on. Once we’ve done that then we can just come right down here and hit save. And now we have our PDT Identity Token which is this right here. Now you can get that PDT Identity Token by coming back over here to Website Payment Preferences and there it is again. That’s our PDT Identity Token.
I’ve copied that and I’m going to paste that in notepad for the moment so that I don’t have to go get it again because I’m not going to use it at this moment but I am going to need that Identity Token.
Okay so we have our Website Payment Preferences set up.
