Welcome back to Part 4 of Lesson 1 of the Customize Thesis Like a Pro tutorial series. In this part of the lesson, we are going to create a local copy of our Thesis theme customization files.
Connect with FileZilla and Download Files
If you haven’t already done so, go ahead and connect to your website with FileZilla. Go ahead and abort. Okay so now we’re connected here. We will go to wp-content and then themes. And then what we are going to do is to select thesis_18 and download it to our local computer here.
Browse the Local Copy
And so now we can maintain the synchronized browsing. We double click on thesis_18, it takes us to the same set of files. Double click on custom sample, it takes us there. Double click on the folder above and it takes us back to the higher level of the site. Double click on Library and you can see that we have, in fact, succeeded in creating a synchronized version of our remote Thesis installation.
Now notice again, if we click twentyten it’s going to say, “Do you want to disable synchronized browsing?” We will go ahead and say “No” to that. You do not really need twentyten over here so that is just going to be something that sits there without any influence by us. It is just going to be something that sits there available to this WordPress installation.
And that wraps up Part 4 of Lesson 1 of the Customize Thesis Like a Pro tutorial series. In the final part of this lesson, Prepare Our Thesis Theme Site For Customization, we are going to take care of an error message in the Dashboard relating to the custom-sample folder and make a copy of Thesis on our local machine.
