Lesson 9 of our Build a Professional Services Website using the Genesis theme and WordPress covers how to add content to your site. In aid of that we show how to use the WordPress Text Editor, review its different modes and views and how to add text to it from other software.

Here we discuss and show examples of how to style your content for readability using headings, links and lists. The styling you apply to your content has a direct link to search engine optimization (SEO) so we spend a good deal of time talking about markup for SEO, markup for readability (that is, for real people) and how to use links to text.

We move on to adding images to your site. We show how to use the WordPress media settings, how to insert images within the content, how to align images and text and using the featured image.

The lesson concludes with developing your on-page SEO. We delve into creating unique, accurate page meta titles, the 4 roles of the page title, how to use the “description” meta tag and content SEO.
