Configure Yahoo to Get your Mail from your New Business Email Account
So let’s get started. First, I log in to my Yahoo account and click “sign in”. Then at the upper right hand corner, you will see “Options”, click on that and select “Mail Options” and at the left side of your screen you will find “Accounts” so click on that. Now it leads us to the screen where we can add other email accounts
and we do that by clicking on this button right here. Now the account name here is the same as the username that we used in configuring Outlook and Gmail but if you have to refresh your memory, you can switch back to our HostGator Dashboard
and scroll down to “Email Accounts”. Here’s my account username, so we click here and select “Configure email client” now here you can find the manual settings for your email account. Let’s copy the username and go back over to Yahoo. Paste that in here.
Now if you want to set this email to be the default sending account, then you can tick this box. Your “From” Name is the name that you want to appear in the message header and of course, the Email address is the same as the Account Name. Copy that. Next we’re going to set up how you want to receive your mail. Here, you can set your emails to go directly to your inbox or to another folder which you will have already created. Next we have an option to choose a color indicator here so you will know what email account the email message was sent to.
Now we enter our username here, which again is the same as our email address. So let’s just copy that, paste it in here. Then I enter my password, and that is the same password that we used when we were setting up our email account. Next we will enter our incoming mail server, which we can get from our Hostgator Account. So we go back to Hostgator and here is our incoming mail server so let’s grab that, and go back to yahoo, paste that in here. And we’re done so we hit save changes. And now it brings up a dialog box that says “A confirmation email was sent to email@example.com
So here comes the interesting part. In order for us to get the verification, we need to go back to our account and look at the verification email even though we can’t get that from here so the tool we’ll use to do that is the Web mail. What we’re going to do is to go back to our HostGator Account and go to “Web Mail”, log in here. I enter my username and password, click “Login”.
So it gives you these options. I always use “Round Cube”. Now here’s the verification email that Yahoo sent, so I’m going to open this up. What we’re looking for here, is the link where we can verify our email account so click here. Now our email address is verified. Hit continue and here we go, this message right here is proof that our email account has been verified successfully. So let’s go back to our mail, go to inbox and you will find this message here.
