This video is part of our old WP eStore Course Go to our Updated WP eStore Course for current videos.
Welcome to Lesson 15 of the Build Your Own E-Commerce Website tutorial series. The goal of this tutorial series is to show you how to create a fully functional e-commerce website using WordPress, Thesis and WP eStore. In this lesson we’ll learn how to add Google Web Services to an ecommerce website.
First we are going to set up a Google account. So if you’ve already created a Google account and you have a Gmail account then just go ahead and skip this video entirely and go on to the second video.
Create a Google Account
Open up a new browser window and search for “create a gmail account”, then select “Create an Account” and we’ll enter our particular information. This is going to be “thesisestore”, we’ll check its availability – it is available, okay. A couple of passwords, pick a security question, and enter your Recovery email. Recovery email is the place where if you’re having problems with this and you want them to send a new password or whatever. It’s a good idea to have a Recovery email here. Add Birthday, the Word Verification and then accept and create the account.
Here we are at our introduction so now go to “Show me my account”. You’ve got a bit of email here in this Gmail account that you can look at to learn more about how to use this. Where we’re going to be working today is under Web and then Settings and we’re going to go to Google Account Settings.
Tour the Google Account Settings Page
Here on the Google Account Settings you see all kinds of things for you to do. You can create a public profile for your ecommerce website which can be searched via Google and you can add a bunch more stuff which is what we’re going to do here. When you select this New you can see all these different things that you can add to your Google account and we’ll be doing that in the second part of this lesson.
That wraps up Part 1 of Lesson 15 of the Build Your Own E-Commerce Website tutorial series.
