This video is part of our old WP eStore Course Go to our Updated WP eStore Course for current videos.
The goal of this tutorial series is to show you how to create a fully functional e-commerce website using WordPress, Thesis and WP eStore. In this lesson we’re going to download and install the Shortcodes Plugin and in the next lessons we’ll add our shopping cart and learn different ways of displaying our products using WP eStore Shortcodes Plugin.
Download Shortcodes Plugin
First we’re going to download and install a bonus plugin Catalog Shortcodes. So the place I want you to start is here on the Lesson Five page and here under Lesson Five Resources down here at the very bottom there is this Download Extra WP eStore Shortcodes Plugin. If you will click on that and download that – make sure you know where the plugin has been downloaded. Mine has gone into my Downloads folder automatically.
Once you’ve got that downloaded I want you to go to your site and log in. I have created for this lesson a website called Thesis eStore Lesson 5 and I’m going to log in.
Install Shortcodes Plugin
Here we are at my Dashboard and we’re going to scroll down here to Plugins. Select Add New and then come up over here to Install Plugins and select Upload and then we’ll select Choose file and we’ll go to the place on the website that has this. For me that is right here – so there’s the WP eStore Shortcodes Plugin eStore-extra-shortcode-.zip. Open the zip file and then say Install. Now it’s installing the plugin from the file.
The plugin was successfully installed. Next we’ll Activate the it and the result of all this is it’s going to make WP eStore capable of reading additional shortcodes besides the one that came with the default installation. So you can see that we have installed it right here and there’s nothing else we need to do about that. In the next part of the lesson we’ll talk about how that’s going to be used.
