Is it possible to add javascripts to the BYOB header layout plugin? I've added a script to embed a video and it's now showing up. I also tried adding an Aweber form via the javascript and it's not showing anything. Am I doing something wrong? Currently I have the Aweber form pasted in with the html created by Aweber and it's working. There should be a video to the left of the Aweber form in the header but it's not showing up.

Stacey it looks like you got this resolved.  At least when I look at it I see both the video and the optin form side by side.

It's not resolved. I ended up having to use a free video player with a shortcode to display the video so that my client could see the page functioning properly.

I still can't paste a javascript into any widget area when using the BYOB plugins (using the header layout plugin and widget styles).

Stacy, I can't repeat that problem.  In my tests with Thesis 1.8.5, WordPress 3.6.1 and the latest versions of those plugins java script pastes into text widgets just fine.  I just tested it in this site, it has 3 columns, one with the thesis default, one with a video embed and one with an aweber sign up form using the javascript embed.

My guess is that you have some sort of plugin interfering with the widgets.

That's my guess too - plugin conflict. She has an Aweber plugin installed that was jacking up some other stuff, so I'm guessing that's the culprit. Thanks for looking into this! 😉

That Aweber plugin is the absolute worst!  It was very poorly written and is entirely unnecessary.

OK, I just deactivated every single plugin except the BYOB plugins and a Simple Social Share plugin and then pasted the javascript to embed the video into a widget to the left of the opt-in form in the header and the video is not showing up. The opt-in form shifts over to the left as if the left widget is non-existant.

The optin form is pasted in with html from Aweber or it wouldn't show up either.

Put some content in column 1 and you'll be fine.  Right now column 1 has nothing in it so it collapses.

Column 1, Row 2 has a javascript in it that's supposed to be displaying a video but isn't - that's the column that's collapsing.

However there is a problem with that java script. It seems to be calling a script ezs3player that doesn't exist anywhere.  That javascript wouldn't work in the page either because it is looking for something to activate the video that hasn't been loaded.

My suggestion would be to first get the script to work in the content of the page.  Once you have done that then paste it in the text widget.  The fact that it is pasted in a text widget in a widget area created by my plugin is irrelevant to the issue.  The problem is that your code doesn't actually do anything.

Once your code is working, it will work fine in a text widget.

OK, I'll figure out the video thing. I was using a script supplied by my client to display her video. I'm certainly no javascript wiz. 😉

If I paste an Awber script into the widget area it doesn't work either. Row 2, Column 2 collapses when I add a script for an Aweber form. I just added the script and the whole row collapsed. It will display the form, however, if I paste in the form html.

Something odd is going on there.  Is the aweber plugin actually deleted?  FWIW, your code works just fine on my site both on the page and in the text widget.

My suggestion would be to again disable all plugins, see if the code works in the page (which it does on my site) and then try again.

Are you using the latest version of WordPress and Thesis?

This particular site doesn't have the Aweber plugin installed. The Aweber plugin was installed on her live site and was jacking things up when I was copying the styling for the site linked to above to her live site. That Aweber plugin did not play well with BYOB!

I've disabled all plugins on the site linked to above except the BYOB plugins and have made sure both Thesis and WordPress are up-to-date. Same thing - Aweber form script does not display the form unless I use the html for the form. 🙁

Did you ever test to see if the form showed up within a page?
