Hi Rick and others,

I have used the Shortcode  Content Widgets Plugin and have set it at the top of the Home Page. I have a video in the right column and some text in the left. I would like to have images and/or text scrolling around in the left widget area. How do I do this?

The site is: http://www.organicbutchermelbo.....om     From my browser the site seems slow to load. If you take a look can you give me some feedback on that please?

Thanks

Lewis

It sounds like you are looking for some sort of rotating banner plugin.  I use SH Slideshow and Meteor Slides.  There are lots of them out there.  Just stay away from the Featured Content Gallery.

In terms of speed the site is very heavy.  My site is considered slow and it weighs 712k  Yours is 2900K.

Hi Rick,

I'll check out those plugins.

I'm wondering what is making my site so 'heavy'. There's not many pages or videos, so what could be causing it and how do I fix it?

Thanks

Lewis

Let's start a separate thread for the site speed conversation.  Post it under WordPress 3.1 and later.

G'day Rick, I'm trying to add a slideshow to a widget area on the home page of http://www.organicbutchermelbourne.com I've used the BYOB Shortcode Widget and I have SH Slideshow. I have loaded some slides but don't know what to do from here on. I read the transcript of your video about adding SH Slideshow to a header and it seems from that I need to do something with the CSS. If you have a video on this could you point me to it please or explain what I need to do.

Thanks

Lewis

If you are going to put a slideshow in a widget area you are probably better off using Meteor Slides.  It has a widget that can be placed in a widget area.  SH slideshow requires a function.

FWIW, the more of this type of thing you add to a site the slower it becomes.  That page is already pretty media heavy.
