I have a problem when adding other sidebars (ie Footer row or column or a custom sidebar) where the content widgets in the body get scrambled and will show up in different places and have to be rearranged. I'm getting ready to develop a number of custom sidebars and am hoping there is a solution to keep the widgets locked to their proper location so I don't have to fix them each time.

Bill welcome to the forum.  Make sure that you are working with the latest versions of the plugins.  And WP 3.3.  WP 3.3 added the ability to retain widget/sidebar relationships when sidebars are added and removed.  All of my plugins have been modified to take advantage of that new facility.

If you are, then we need to take a look at it further.

I believe I'm current. Wordpress 3.3.2 and the Thesis Shortcode Content Widgets plugin is 1.8.

I wonder if there is a naming issue.  Have you given you widget areas names that are substantially similar to the other sidebars on your site?

Are you using some custom code (or even another plugin) to add sidebars to the site?
