I just uploaded this plugin and tried to activate it, but received the following error:

Can someone please help me with so I can activate the plugin?

Thanks...

Martin, welcome to the forum.  That plugin isn't compatible with Thesis 2.  It only works in Thesis 1.8.5.  The good news is that it isn't necessary in Thesis 2 and that all of its functions are inherent in Thesis 2.

Hi Rick,

Can I ask an additional question about this please?

I had the same issue as Martin (I'm also working with Thesis 2), so I started searching on the forum and found this thread.

I just started following the tutorial on how Creating Full Width Header Using BYOB Thesis Plugins (https://www.byobwebsite.com/seminars/plugin/creating-a-full-width-header-using-byob-thesis-plugins/)

I just read I need to upload 3 plugins, but all of them give an error message when I activate them.

How can I create a full width header inside Thesis 2 without these plugins?

Thank you,

Elmar

Hi Brian,

This is the error message :

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Warning: include_once(/home/celeipmf/public_html/wp-content/themes/thesis/lib/admin/fonts.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/celeipmf/public_html/wp-content/plugins/byob-thesis-simple-header-widgets/byob-thesis-simple-header-widgets.php on line 55

Above Rick replied in his answer that the plugin isn't compatible with Thesis 2.  It only works in Thesis 1.8.5., but that the good news is that it isn't necessary in Thesis 2 and that all of its functions are inherent in Thesis 2.

Actually I liked the possibilities that the 3 plugins gave to create a full width header.

How can I do this inside Thesis 2 ?

Thank you,

Elmar

I'm sorry about the delay in answering, I've been travelling the last couple of days.

Elmar, part of this depends on the skin you are using.  Classic Responsive and Social Triggers are not "full width" type of skins.  The easiest way to have a full width header is to being with a full width skin.  Agility (available to you as a member) is a full width skin.

Having said that, any skin *can* be made full width.  You just have to really understand HTML & CSS in order to do so.  If you want to make a skin like Classic Responsive full width you want to start by watching the Beginner's Guide to the Thesis 2.1 Skin Editor seminar.

This will be MUCH easier for you to do in Agility.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for your reply.

I wish I could say that I traveled a lot last days. 🙂  Unfortunately this is not the case!

I hope you enjoyed it!

About Agility, can I just upload this skin and activate it over my current skin I'm using. (Classic Responsive)?

When I do so, what do I need to do in order to make the header full width? Is there still a box I need to use to do that?

I'd like to have a header with the functionality and the looks as the one you explain in this video : /seminars/plugin/creating-a-full-width-header-using-byob-thesis-plugins/

In this video you explain that we need 3 boxes. Is this still the case with Agility?

Thank you,

Elmar

Yes, you can simply upload it and activate it.  It won't have any affect on your Classic Responsive skin.

No, it isn't.  Watch the videos on how to customize the Agility templates.  I demonstrate how to use the Agility Responsive Columns system to create a 3 column full width header.

I've uploaded Agility Rick.

Is it possible to change the width of the sidebar and of the content section just like in Classic Responsive Skin?

Thanks, Elmar

No, it isn't.  The responsive system in Agility (and Carta) is based on being able to reliably predict the width of columns.  Thus there is a set number of column widths and configurations for you to choose from.

I'm just working on this page Rick : http://ultimateguitartabs.net/.....-overnight

I'd like to put that page on the first page of my site as a sales page, so I don't want a sidbar and the text may not go over the entire width since that's wide for a sales page.

Till now I did this : Inside the "content area page" I configured the Agility Column Wrapper as "Single Column", I removed the sidebar, and I configured the Agility Column as "Two thirds the width of the column wrapper.

Now the text has the width that I want, but of course it is too much to the left now. I want to have it in the middle in order to have a good sales page.

How can I do that please?

Thanks, Elmar

I see that the link above links to the wrong page Rick. Actually it is this page I'm talking about :

ultimateguitartabs.net/teach-play-guitar-overnight (it won't be a link now I guess)

The way to do that is to use a single column but use custom CSS to make the column narrower.  Something like:

.learn-guitar #content_area .page_wrapper{
      width:640px;
      max-width:100%;
}

You bet.  The max-width setting also makes it responsive.
