This is a new plugin that allows you to create "sub sidebars" that you can drag and drop widgets to. These sub sidebars can be located either at the top or the bottom of the default Thesis sidebars 1 and 2. Once created you can select which sub sidebars are displayed on any given post or page from the post/page edit screen.
This allows you to create a "sales" sub sidebar and display it only on sales pages or a "members" sidebar and only display it on members pages. It also allows you to select the visibility based on the user's logged in status. Thus you can display one sub sidebar to anonymous visitors and another to members of your site.

Hi rick,
i'm going to make use of this plugin as i create my video membership portion of my website which is built on thesis. with this widget, am i able to not have the existing sidebar widgets that show throughout my site show up or is there a separate action i need to take to prevent the "regular" sidebar widgets from showing in my members video pages?
my plan for the widget is to have video links in the sidebar that members can choose to go to other videos.
thanks, david

You have several options. You could create a sub sidebar for each sidebar condition you want and not use sidebar 1 at all. (or use it for widgets you want to display on every page). This is how it was intended to be used.
Or you could use it in conjunction with the Display Widgets plugin.

It's not that the sidebar is removed. You simply leave it empty and tell you sub-sidebars to be either at the top or bottom of Sidebar 1.

okay i have it downloaded and installed. i'm in the setup but don't see how i can select a specific page. for example, this is one of the pages i would want the new sidebar to appear in;
http://californiasupplementale.....vironment/
also i'm going to have 5 categories and each category will have several links to videos underneath. should each category be it's own sidebar?
thanks, david

With the plugin installed you have a dialog on every post and page that will let you choose which sub-sidebar to display. You can set the archive display rules in the plugin options. I'd use a different sub sidebar for each different set of widgets you want to display.

Sidebar 1 will always be there. That's why these are "sub-sidebars". The trick is to only put widgets in sidebar 1 that you want to display on all pages and posts (or use a plugin like "Display Widgets" to control them). Then you use the sub-sidebars to create sets of widgets that display above or below sidebar 1 on different pages.

No, but I should. I'm working in plugins this weekend so I might get a chance to add that.

Rick that would be way cool.
Here is what I'm wanting to do.
Each Powder Keg product is specific to a model of snowmobile and on the pages I have made the sidebars specific the the sled model and color, but I want to do this with my post pages I have made to help customers understand which model of products will fit their snowmobile.
Check out these links and notice the sidebars.
I'm sure you get this all the time, but thanks for you passion to do help others and do it the right way.
A post: http://www.powderkegllc.com/10.....-summit-x/
A page: http://www.powderkegllc.com/pr.....-products/
Just want to be able to put that page sidebar on the post.
Wish I had the knowledge to write it for you, but then why would I need you right.
Have a great day!

You should take a look at the dynamic widgets plugin. I have some videos here on using it (that's what I use on this site). It'll probably do what you want it to do.
