Rick,

I am using WP Menus.  I went to Thesis / Design Options / Fonts, Colors and More! / Nav Menu and set the colors of my menu to a black background (#000000) with a lighter colored font.

Then, I set the "current link text color" to #000000 and the "current background color" to #111111.  This way the current page I am viewing will have the reverse colors of the rest of the menu.

Well, it works sorta.  When I am on my HOME page, the TAX RESEARCH menu is also black letters on white background.  When I click on START HERE, it works as advertised.

The TAX RESEARCH menu item is not really a page.  Using the WP menu system, it is a parent menu item with 4 child sub menus.  It's url is http://www.gamblingtaxinstitute.com/#.

Your thoughts?

Thank-you.

Sorry, colors not set under Thesis / Design Options, but under the WP Menus / Menu Colors.

But, the results are the same.

Thank-you.

It's probably behaving exactly as designed.  I'm guessing from looking at it in firebug that "Tax Research" is a child page of "Home" - thus both "current" and "parent" show up.

On the other hand you are using a 301 redirect for Court Cases, so the page you are displaying isn't the page that is the actual menu item, and thus it isn't "current".

I'm arriving at this conclusion by groping the elephant while blind folded.  The main clues, besides the mess I stepped in, is that WordPress isn't assigning the class of "current" to the court cases page and is assigning "parent" to the home page.

Not exactly sure what was going on, but I got it working.

I redesigned my menu structure to try and avoid sub-menus.

Tried to get the Court Cases tab to work, but I think a plugin is interfering with it.  So it is turned off at the present time.

(The Court Case menu item was referring to a page for custom post types.  Deleted the page.  Removed the page from the menu.  Put everything back.  Everything worked fine.  Went back later, and it was scrambled again.  Deactivated plugin.  Did everything over.  Everything worked fine.  Activated plugin and everything got scrambled again.  So plugin got put in time out.)

Also configured it so the color changes when you hover.

I'd like to try to figure this out.  Call me when you get a chance.  We'll set up a meeting where I can see what is going on as you do it.
