Using a Child Theme (or better: different versions of) on a MultiSite Installation

I am about to install the child theme I made, thanks to this great course, on a multi-site installation.

What are pitfalls, settings, adjustments that you would advise me about?

Would do I need to add in the code to make sure the style.css finds its way to the layout.css when that is in a "custom-6" folder? It seems that after having added a few additions to custom-functions.php inside the custom-6 folder, the layout.css now comes from inside the custom-6 folder, where changes to the style.css seem no longer reflected...

Thanks!

Hmm, excellent question - I'll have to do some research on that.

Thanks Rick, I'm curious 🙂

The issue I've encountered so far is that any further changes to the style.css need to be manually added to the layout.css in the custom-6 folder, otherwise they don't reflect...

This only happened, by the way, after I added a few lines of code to the custom-functions.php through the applicable screen within Thesis/WP dashboard, inside the custom-6 folder.

Before that, everything worked as if it was single-site installation.

The alternative is, of course, to make further changes to the css inside the custom.css which is inside the custom-6 folder.

Looking forward to your research 🙂

It seems solved...

My Design Options crashed so I re-installed the thesis-options dat file I had downloaded a few days ago. And now changes in the style.css do find their way back into the layout.css.

My apologies...

Great, I hadn't had a chance to research this yet.

I am wanting to use Thesis and multisites too.  Did you have success or not?

I have come across info on using Thesis and Buddypress for multisite buddypress sites.

http://wpmu.org/buddypress-and.....r-at-last/
http://wpmu.org/tutorial-integ.....ss-part-1/

I do know that there must be a "child" theme for the modifications on individual sites in the network, otherwise, the changes are made network wide.  Any change is passed on to ALL sites in the network.

Let me know.

Tom

Tom, there is no such thing as a child theme for Thesis 2.  Each individual site would install Thesis 2 and customize their respective skins as they see fit.  Try it.  I hear it works fine.
