 Hi Rick,

I learnt that the best practice is to always make css customizations in custom.css.

Is it ok to use custom.css for all the css edits across the site (for all templates)? Or is there a better practice for this?

Commonly people use media queries and use separate stylesheets for different devices. Do we use any structure like that for organizing stylesheets in thesis?

I am sorry if this sounds too basic. If there's any articles/videos that'll help me get a better hang of thesis architecture, do point me in that direction.

Thanks,

Ajith

Welcome to the forum

The only place to change css is by adding it to custom css.

Do not change any core files, they will be overwritten on updates.

Make sure you backup before upgrading and making changes.
Best results when one question per thread, link to site, version of WP, Thesis and skin.

*** Biggest cause of problems is now the cache, whether it is a plugin, the browser or your host's server. ***
*** Do not edit Skin and Editor CSS - make changes using Custom CSS. ***
*** Do not edit core files - make changes using custom.php or master.php. ***

Ajith - welcome to the forum - smile

No questions are too basic.  Please don't be afraid to ask.

In Thesis 1 there was a separate file called custom.css.  In those days you needed to edit that file and upload it to your website.

Today there is a a screen for adding Custom CSS.  You no longer use a separate file, you simply use the Custom CSS screen in Thesis.  And as Keith has noted, there are 2 other CSS screens in Thesis - Skin CSS and Editor CSS.  You shouldn't ever use those screens to modify your CSS.
