HostGator has been upgrading PHP on all servers from 5.2 to 5.4 and for some of my Thesis 1.8 sites that has broken the WordPress Dashboard making the right column info invisible.  It's easily fixed by going in and resetting PHP version back to 5.2, but I'm hoping there's a more elegant fix that will allow those sites to use PHP 5.4.

Any suggestions on where to find the long term solution to tweaking the Thesis 1.8 code so that it will be compatible with PHP 5.4?

Thanks!

Maryna

What version of WP are you using?

The latest version is 3.9.1

Make sure you backup before upgrading and making changes.
Best results when one question per thread, link to site, version of WP, Thesis and skin.

*** Do not edit core files - make changes using custom.php or master.php. ***

The most elegant fix is to:

1. upgrade those sites to Thesis 1.8.5

2. upgrade WordPress to the latest version.

At that point it'll all work fine.  BYOBWebsite runs Thesis 1.8.5 and PHP 5.4 without problem.

Thanks for the suggestions, Keith and Rick!  Will try that...  I'm usually wary about applying WordPress upgrades in case something breaks, but will take backups first and get this sorted out.  smile

Backup is important first. Latest version of WP 3.9.1 appears to be working well.

But you are not alone, people do not like to update.

Although this is proof that you need to continuously upgrade your themes, plugins and WordPress.
