I have redesigned a client's website using Agility Nude. I am trying to make changes to the featured content boxes on the front page but it's not saving. Any clue why? I have made the edits in the skin editor, it says saving... but it's not saving.

Thanks

This is what I see on the Content & Display page. Apparently, I can now change some things here. So I was able to change the title. However, I can't seem to change it in the editor.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "able to change the title".

Perhaps you are referring to the "Section Heading".  When attempting to edit something that can be edited in both the skin editor and skin content - especially those boxes on the front page - you MUST close all other windows of the skin editor AND any instances of the Skin Content and Display.  Otherwise other open windows might take precedence over the skin editor.

The front page of Agility 3 is not intended to be edited in the Skin Editor.  Almost ALL edits should be done in Skin Content and Display.

Here is a video that explains it - https://www.byobwebsite.com/seminars/thesis-theme-2-0-seminars/agility-32/setup-front-page/

When you go into the BYOB Agility Nude Skin Design Color Options area under the headings - h1 button.

OK, so that doesn't have anything to do with template saving or Skin Content and Display.

That has to do with saving CSS.  The typical reason you don't immediately see a change when you change something in Skin Design is that some form of caching is active.  The first step is to turn off caching in your browser.

Which browser do you typically work in?  Do you know how to disable its caching?

I don't have any caching on. I generally use Chrome. I start with no cache and generally have cache turned off in all my browsers. However, that being said, Chrome doesn't completely shut it off. So I have to manually clear cache and history several times a day.

But Rick,

Doesn't the image of the UL of the Featured Content section look odd? The alignment is offset. All the Featured Content columns are all under the c Featured Content Area - Column 1 - Featured Content → Categories bullet.

  • 3c Featured Content Area
    • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 1 - Featured Content
    • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 1 - Featured Content → Categories
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 1 - Featured Content → Date
        • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 1 - Featured Content → Tags
          • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 2 - Featured Content
          • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 2 - Featured Content → Categories
          • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 2 - Featured Content → Date
          • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 2 - Featured Content → Tags
          • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 3 - Featured Content
          • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 3 - Featured Content → Categories
          • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 3 - Featured Content → Date
          • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 3 - Featured Content → Tags

Shouldn't it be like this?

  • 3c Featured Content Area
    • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 1 - Featured Content
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 1 - Featured Content → Categories
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 1 - Featured Content → Date
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 1 - Featured Content → Tags
    • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 2 - Featured Content
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 2 - Featured Content → Categories
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 2 - Featured Content → Date
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 2 - Featured Content → Tags
    • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 3 - Featured Content
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 3 - Featured Content → Categories
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 3 - Featured Content → Date
      • 3c Featured Content Area - Column 3 - Featured Content → Tags

I'm sorry if what I'm saying is confusing. I suppose it's because I am confused with what is happening.

Edit: This configuration has nothing to do with the functionality problems that I'm seeing. I can click the links, make the edits, but it doesn't save.

I keep trying to add classes to the featured content boxes via the editor but it is not saving. It does say that it is saving CSS, but when I go to check using my dev tool, it isn't there. When I go back to try a second save, it doesn't do anything. When I refresh, my class edit is no longer there.

I thought it might have to do with changing the domain name. So, I tried the little trick that I've seen you do a few times, I went into the editor CSS button and click save. But still, nothing saves in the editor. I need to put a class in so I can edit one of the featured content posts.

To disable cache in Chrome open developer tools, and select the Network tab.

Then check the box that says disable cache

Yes, it does - that is something I have to fix in Agility - but it has nothing to do with saving.

Here's a video demonstrating how it should work - and does work on my test site.

I already have this done. I still have it capturing cache and history.

After posting regarding the UL layout, I realized it has nothing to do with the problem I am experiencing. Glad to hear you're looking into fixing it though.

Yes, that's what I am trying to do. This video will show you what is happening.

Hi Rick

I am using the newest Agility. My Front Page is a static page and the blog (posts) page is another page. Question

- Can I add other boxes to the blog page w/o messing up the design options?

- Can more of one of the areas be on the same page?

- Can this be done to the Front Page also?

- I assume in an option that allows dragging my own thing into a box, if there are 3 columns, you can do that in each column

- In this version of Agility, how can I control to place different WP Menus on different pages or for different logged in condition. We dont use WP roles to display content but, use our billing control program API to controll access. But my concern is that the meuse set up for the Front Page displays on all other pages

- Is there a place on the site with media querysthat can be used in Agility

Thanks Rick
