Now this is weird.

Here is my 1st post - Doffin v. CIR.  http://www.ladyluckdiary.com/d.....n-v-c-i-r/

Here is my 2nd post - Cohan v. CIR.  http://www.ladyluckdiary.com/c.....n-v-c-i-r/

Compare "United States Tax Court" with "Circuit Court of Appeals, Second Circuit"

Both are formatted as Heading 1 and Centered

The US Tax Court looks bold but the Circuit Court does not look bold.

Any ideas, thoughts or comments?

Reece, the bold one has <strong> tabs enclosing the text.

I guess you can't trust the Visual Editor "Button Bar" - it indicates that the heading is bold.

Ultimatelly, you still have to look at the underlying HTML

Latest TABLE efforts.

I setup a table using Rick's specs from POST #4 above.

I added the following to my custom.css file

/* For tables in Court Case Posts */
/* Used http://www.somacon.com/p141.php

2 Problems are evident.

Problem #1.  Where did my border line go that goes around the entire table?  What is weird is that I have gone into the table.court_case part (not the "th" or "td" part) and changed the border-width, border-style and border-color - nothing happens.

Problem #2.  The table is not centered.

Problem #3.  On TABLES #2 and #3, the tables are not centered in Firefox version 3.6.10, but they are centered in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8.

Thoughts?  Comments?  Suggestions?

Thank-you for your help!

Reece – You will probably need to define the width of the first table to enable your centering method to work.

Have you looked at the example tables that I included within my Home page mainly in response to an earlier query of yours?

http://www.briantozer.com

BTW I hope that you have looked at "RANDY G. DOFFIN, Petitioner v. COMMISSIONER OF INTERNAL REVENUE, Respondent." in IE8.

Don't look now, but my lack of HTML/CSS knowledge is showing!

Brian - I did look at your examples.  I just didn't always understand what I was looking at.  I am not sure I know/understand how to define the width of the table.  Plus, I didn't know if you had something tucked away in a CSS file somewhere.

I didn't locate the part where it defined class="homepagetable1" or class="homepagetable2"

I like the output of wp-table-reloaded 1.8.  I was just hoping I could create some basic tables without becoming dependent on a plugin.  So, that is why I  was hoping to try and kept it as generic as possible even if it was a little uglier than I would want.

Yes, I have looked at the Doffin case in IE8.  Are you referring to the scrunched up H1 heading?  I tried using H2 and then it   really   spaced   things   out   vertically   !!!  So, I went back to H1.  Does this mean I get to edit the setting for the h1 heading in CSS too?

Brian, thank-you for your help and encouragement.

Reece

Reece, to utilize your concept of 'basic tables' for your site, where you will have a wide variety of table formats for your different tables, requires a reasonable knowledge of HTML and CSS.

This is how I created my first two tables.

I think that the plugin which I used, and which Rick has confirmed is suitable for use within a Thesis environment, is the best option for you. That is why I created the third example without any custom CSS styling, to show you what was easily possible.

If you would like it customised in any particular fashion, define your desires and I will do it and post my CSS styles that I used.

Or alternatively if you can put onto your website a particular example that you would like me to implement on my site, do that.

But define EXACTLY and COMPLETELY your specs for your desired end result.

Well guys, I think I am in business.

I spent Saturday and Sunday going through the HTML and CSS portion of http://www.w3schools.com.

Since there is no standard "look and feel" for the tables, I have to manually style each of the tables inside the POST.

Yuk!  Yes, I know.  It is certainly not a "best practices" method since my content is not separated from my style.

Unfortunately, the Judges from the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's, 1960's, 1970's and 1980's never heard of the internet or the concept of "hypertext."

But, I did get it working!
