YourOrganicGardeningBlog load time SUCKS!   How to fix it?

Yslow says:

Grade F on Make fewer HTTP requests

This page has 16 external Javascript scripts. Try combining them into one.
This page has 11 external stylesheets. Try combining them into one.

Grade F on Add Expires headers

There are 36 static components without a far-future expiration date.

Grade F on Compress components with gzip

There are 19 plain text components that should be sent compressed

Grade n/a on Make JavaScript and CSS external

Only consider this if your property is a common user home page.

  • There are a total of 2 inline css
  • There are a total of 12 inline scripts
Grade C on Minify JavaScript and CSS
There are 3 components that can be minified
Grade A on all other categories

So:
  1. What does each of those indicators mean?
  2. How to fix each F Grade?
  3. How to use the suggestions in Yslow>Tools. To fix problems Yslow id's.

Heck, I don't understand what they are talking about.  Yes, I read the suggestions of what to do.  Just above the read more tag. And read …the read more tag. So it gives suggestions on what to do.  How do you do them?  Seems incomplete.

The thing is - all of this is pretty technical.  Once upon a time I hired someone to help me with this on my site.  Unfortunately the plugins that I use, most notably Wishlist Member won't work properly if you minify or combine.

Most people who attempt to address these issues do so using a caching plugin.  Unfortunately, the opportunities for failure are so great that I haven't successfully done it myself.

I will be glad to discuss the issues with you though in a live session.

Yes, a live discussion would benefit.   When?

Learning:

  • To understand better what yslow is saying.
  • See the complication as a complication.
  • Possible other sources to go to.
  • Is it a plugin issues?  if so, how can you tell? So we can see with your eyes.

Once you said the slow speed had to do with a social network plugin.  I'd like to know, how you saw this.
