Video Transcript

This is a site that we’re going to create entirely from scratch using my plugins. And I’m going to be introducing the header plugin that creates this. It’s a plugin that I haven’t demonstrated yet. In fact, it’s not even on the website yet but it will be by tonight, available for download. And then all the rest of this stuff is created using other plugins on the site. So that’s what we’re going to do here today. I’ll keep my eye up on the question window just in case anybody wants to post a question. And I don’t…we probably won’t get all the way through it today but we’re going to get as far as we can going from here. Essentially, the generic WordPress Thesis set up to here so let’s get started.

The first thing we’re going to do is just configure the site so that it works properly for… so that it looks… it’s able to be configured to look like this. So let’s switch over here to the dashboard and go to Thesis Design Options. And then under site layout, that’s going to be a 2-column layout. We’re going to be 639 pixels and 300 pixels. I would have normally done it by 640 but my image is 1 pixel off so we’re going to do it 639. Our column order is going to be this typical content on one side, sidebar on the other. We will be using the Full Width Framework and we will be using no padding. Let’s go ahead and save that.

And then under… let’s see, under comments, we are going to disable comments on all pages and not show the comment message. And under Administration, we’re going to get rid of the edit post link and also the show admin link in footer and hit save. And then in the body and in the content area, we’re going to remove show interior layout and borders. We’re going to leave our font size at 14 pixels. We’re going to take the nav menu until 14 pixels. We’re going to leave header headlines, this stuff alone but in the terms of multimedia box… oh yeah, we’re not going to worry about the multimedia box here. So we’ll just go ahead and save that stuff.

And then over here under multimedia box default settings, we are going to do not show the multimedia box. We’ll come back and adjust the feature box placement later when we start setting up the feature box.

Okay so now, our site looks like this, just a nice, blank site here.
