Example number 2 in this Beginner’s Guide to the Thesis 2.1 Skin Editor is to show you how to include the author’s name on posts but not pages. So for example, if we come over here to oranges, the post author is here but if we come over to pages, I don’t want to see the author’s name or the date for that matter.

Skin Display Options

So, if we come over to skin display, which is in skin content. We’re going to have the author turned on and we’ll have the avatar turned on. We’ll go ahead and save our display options and then what we’re going to do is come over to our skin editor and we’re going to just get rid of those options for pages.

Edit the Page Templates

So we’re going to get rid of the author avatar, and that means we shift+drag it into the page post box and then drop it into the tray. And then shift+drag that one into the page post box, shift+drag that one into the page post box. Shift+drag that one into the page post box and we’re going to shift+drag the byline all the way out and drop it up here and then drag this stuff down to the tray.

Let’s save the Front page, go to the regular pages and do the same thing. Headline area, we’ll shift+drag author avatar up into post box and then shift+drag all of these out. Drop that one to the library and then drag down to the tray, each of these. Save the template. Refresh the template and now I just have the title.

If I come over to just a regular page, I just have the title. Author Avatar and date are no longer showing but if we go over to a category archive page I still have this showing up where it should.
