Whoops, you've found some protected content!

Then there’s one last thing in this customizing Thesis 2.1 for beginners tutorial that I want to show you in terms of the content options and that is how to remove some things like Date and Author from the page.

Remove Date and Author from Pages

These are all fine and dandy on a post but I don’t really want that stuff to show up on this site. It’s really slam dunk simple over here under Thesis content options. Come over to the Post and Page Layout, all you have to do is turn off the author, turn off the date and that’s gone. It’s really that easy, you could come over here and look at one of our blog posts, you can see that it’s left out the author and that kind of stuff.

Now, if we came back into our Post and Page Output and let’s say we put our Author, Author avatar, Author description, Date and Categories in then that’s what it looks like. I’ll give myself a Users, Profile and then Biographical Information, “Rick Anderson is a real fine fellow”. Anyway, that’s the description and if we refresh this then that is going to show up.

Here it is, About the Author, “Rick Anderson is a real fine fellow”. So you can choose to display those things as well but I don’t want to display those things so I’m going to turn all of that stuff off, Author, Author avatar, description, Date and Categories.

Miscellaneous Settings

Then there’s one last thing we’re going to do. We’ll take a look at the Miscellaneous settings in that same spot. You can see I turned off this WP admin link. A lot of people want to get rid of that curly braces around the number of comments. The fast and easy way to get rid of those curly braces is by choosing not to display them here. I’m not going to do that but you can. And that’s essentially the way this content thing works, right? You can choose to turn on and off various comment elements, sidebar elements, post and page elements, site title and tagline elements. It’s pretty straightforward and pretty cool.

Good and clear information…I just wish it worked for me. I have the date turned off in the Post/Page layout and it works except in the sliders for featured slider and the article slider…shows the date. I am using the Themedy Quik skin. I wonder if you have an idea for me…no one seems to know why the date still shows up next to the date icon.

I have picked up a lot on your site and appreciate all the information. Thesis 2 is such a learned curve for me but your site has been very helpful. Thanks!

Patricia, the other thing you can do is open up the template in the Skin Editor and drag the author box into the Post Box tray. I demonstrate this in the DIY Website Builder videos.
