Now that we’ve got our Front Page template for this upgrade to Thesis 2.1 done, we want to move on to setting up our page template. Let’s come back over to the Skin Editor and go to our Page template.

Configure the Header

Open up Header, shift+drag Nav Menu into the Header. Then find our Header Widget Area, add it in shift+drag it into Header. That’s our Header Widget Area and our Nav Menu so let’s just take a look at that. Our Header Widget Area and our Nav Menu is fine.

Configure the Content Area

For our content, we’re going to open up our Headline Area and we want to remove it on our pages. And now that I look at it again I see that she’s also pulled off the head, that she’s essentially taken all of that heading items off of there. So we’re really just going to take the whole Headline Area, drag it and drop it there.

Configure the Footer

And then in our footer we are going to add Footer Bottom, Footer Top, Footer Top Widget Area; shift+drag Footer Top in there. We’ll shift+drag Bottom into Footer and then Top into Footer and we’ll save this template.

Style the Sidebar

I think we’re going to be done except that we need to style the sidebar. So, let’s take a look at how she styled the sidebar here in Thesis 1.8.5. She’s got a whole different style going on here that looks like Arial black to me. Sidebar H3 is #B0B0B0 and it’s Arial black. So, let’s come over here to our Design Options and open up our Sidebar Headings. Arial Black, b0b0b0 and what was that font size, 18 pixels.

Let’s save those design options and refresh this. Now let’s compare the Page content in Thesis 1.8.5 to our Thesis 2.1 site. In the new versus the old we have in the news, the book, pre-order your copy. So we don’t have the arrangement right just yet. Because the book goes above pre-order your copy, the book, pre-order your copy and stay connected.

So, we’ve got a little bit of css that needs to happen here for the social widget and this must be some place in the Custom CSS. Let’s go back over and look at Custom CSS for a second. It’s not there, does she have a special file for this? No, she doesn’t. So, where is that style coming from? It looks like one of them is aligned and the other one isn’t. Hmm, okay well that will be something interesting for us to figure out here in a few minutes.
