This is part 5 of an updated and expanded version of an earlier lesson on using the FV WordPress Flowplayer plugin to host your own videos. In this part of the lesson we add a video to a post or page.
Okay so now I’ve got the video in our hosting account ready to host and we’ve got our plugin configured. Now let’s go ahead and add it to a post.
So here we are in a post and we hit edit and we go to the HTML view. That makes it easier. You see this little button right here? This little button has… oh, pardon me… visual editor, I’m sorry. This little button right here has been added to this list here and it will actually add the video for you. So all you need to do is put your cursor where you want the video and click that button. And now it’s asking you for the name of the video. Now if you placed it in the folder in your root directory called videos as we just did here, all you have to do is take the name and paste it there.
Now if you don’t put a width and you don’t put a height then it’s going to use the default width and height that we said here – 640 by 480. If you want it to be different so for example, 320 by 240 which was the original thing, you can set those here. And if we say insert, it automatically puts the player information in there for you. So if we view the post, okay there it is. And now what’s it’s doing here is it’s showing at its full size and if you press that, it starts to play.
Okay so that’s sort of the initial set up. That’s how to get that video in there. Now let’s say you want to change some of that stuff though for example. So if you put your cursor in there and you hit the Flowplayer button again…pardon me. Maybe you put your cursor in there and you…maybe you have to select the whole thing. Hit the Flowplayer button…that’s odd. Oh, I just deleted it. Great. Okay, let’s try it again.
So select that, put the video size in there, let’s put a width say, 320 by 240. And we are going to leave everything else the same and hit insert. This short code should automatically change the video sizes. And then here’s your little you know, full screen mode and there’s the small screen mode again.
