Now that I’ve demonstrated how to create automatic registration using an AWeber Optin Form I’m going to show you how to do the same thing in MailChimp.
MailChimp Sign Up Forms
We’ll begin at my lists and I want to view this eMember Free list. And I am going to from there to my Signup forms. Let’s look at my embedded forms and I’ve got an embedded form right there.
The other thing we have to do is come over to our sign up form editor and choose our sign up form. And actually, it’s the Confirmation “thank you” page that we’re doing. It’s a little different here. What we’re going to do is put the URL in the Confirmation “thank you” page form. This is the URL of the page we want them to be sent to, so in this case that is Client Registration.
Redirect to Confirmation and Client Registration Pages
Put that there and save it. Then we also want to go to Final “welcome” email and we want to edit this. So build it. Let’s design it then and here we can say, “Register as a Client” and build the link.
The reason why we do both, put it in email and also have them redirected is because sometimes the redirection doesn’t work. Sometimes they don’t realize they’re just supposed to wait to be redirected.
Add the Form to the Website
What we’re going to do is come back over to this signup forms, embedded forms. We’ve got it. So now what we have to do is paste this embedded form code and again, we’re going to paste it inside of widgets.
We’ll come down to our visual editor one and instead of the AWeber one we’ve got the MailChimp one. Hit save and then come back over to any page that has this.
User Experience Signing Up
I’ll add my email address and my name. We’ll take my email in HTML format and then hit subscribe then it says, “Almost finished.. We need to confirm your email address. To complete the subscription process, please click the link in the email we just sent you.”
For whatever reason, my Gmail is being very slow to load this stuff so we’re going to have to wait until I get the email back but that’s the way the process works. Either way will get you an automatic opt-in registration.
All they have to do is register. Once they’ve registered and confirmed their email address, at that point they can be directed to the registration page and there they can register and then login.
